Research focus: The association between endocrine cancers and diet and lifestyle means that they are becoming increasingly common. By modelling endocrine therapy resistance we can explore the impact of tumour derived steroids on cell metabolism, senescence and invasiveness. How cancer cells adapt to an altered steroid state is unclear and we are exploring this using a combination of state-of-the-art mass-spectrometry and proteo-genomic analysis. This approach has the potential to provide a more personalised approach to therapy and follow-up.
